Our 2014 BURLY Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a low yielding block of grapes and produces an intense wine with aromas of white peach and pear. At first swirl, stone fruit and pineapple aromas leap from the glass. The palate has rich flavors of nectarine and lemon meringue supported by elegant minerality and lively acidity. The sur lie aging rounds out this wine, creating a broad mid palate and a smooth lingering finish.
Making the Wine
The grapes for this wine were picked early in the morning and came in cold. The grapes were pressed into stainless steel drums and cold fermented by native yeast. Fermentation took 40 days at 55° F. The wine was then aged sur lie for 4 months.

In spite of drought and an earthquake in southern Napa Valley, vintners in the region celebrated another vintage for the record books in 2014. Heavy rains in late February and early March gave a much needed drink of water to vines as they emerged from dormancy. A warm relatively frost-free spring allowed bud break, flowering, and fruit set to proceed without interruption. Continued warm, dry weather throughout the summer brought the grapes to perfect ripeness in a harvest that was relatively early and also bountiful.
